3年前に坂茂建築設計さんから紙管に漆を塗って欲しいと依頼があり、輪島キリモトの塗師・小路貴穂が何種類かサンプルを製作していました。
また、珠洲市の奥能登芸術祭にて潮騒レストランを設計されており、今回の地震でも珠洲市で仮設住宅の活動などもされていたのです。
今回、輪島市にも仮設住宅の打ち合わせに来られた時に、あれこれとお話しを伺い、この紙管とボード、断熱材の「紙の仮設住宅」を仮設工房に転用出来るのでは！と話が進み、輪島キリモトの後ろにある砂利駐車場に家具・内装の漆塗、木地、発送作業などに使う「紙管とボード、断熱材の仮設工房」の設置につながりました。
自治体さんが手がけるには少し再調整が必要なようですが、民間の輪島キリモトは自費にて建設しました。
この仮設工房の施工は2日間、実働13時間で駆体が完成しました。

Three years ago, we received a request from Shigeru Ban Architects to coat paper tubes with Urushi lacquer, and Urushi artisan of Wajima Kirimoto, Takaho Koji produced several samples.
Mr. Ban also designed the Shiosai Restaurant at the Oku-Noto Art Festival in Suzu City, and was also involved in temporary housing activities in Suzu City during the recent earthquake.
This time, when he came to Wajima City for a meeting about temporary housing, we talked about this and that, and the conversation progressed with the idea of converting this "paper temporary housing" made of paper tubes, boards, and insulation materials into a temporary workshop. This led to the establishment of a “temporary workshop for paper tubes, boards, and insulation materials” used for furniture and interior painting with Urushi lacquer, wood finishing, and shipping work of products in the gravel parking lot behind Wajima Kirimoto.
Although it seems that some readjustment is necessary for the local government to handle it, the private company Wajima Kirimoto built it at its own expense.
Construction of this temporary workshop took two days and 13 hours of actual work to complete.
